  2. Russia existed for the past 30 years without being at the mercy of NATO. They could overthrow Putin, install a moderate government, hand over Putin and the rest of the war criminals and agree to pay some war reparations and they would be out the hole they've dug for themselves. With their vast energy resources they could easily pay some amount of war reparations and still be far better off economically than continuing the war. Other than that I can't see how they can avoid defeat and the break up of the Russian Federation.
