As a very wealthy and industrialized nation, won't Germany be able to mitigate the effects of its aging, highly skilled workforce by sucking in highly skilled immigrants from all over the globe? Even if their skill level is a little below German level, additional training could bring them up to par very quickly in many cases. Isn't this how the US has been able to stay at the top for the past several decades? I predict Germany will find a solution. They are too smart and forward looking to sleep walk into economic decline.

@vodekz1534 You can't get energy stability by continuing to buy energy from the country that caused the energy instability in the first place. Do you seriously think letting Russia get their way with Ukraine will give Europe energy stability? It will make Europe more dependent than ever before and it will embolden Russia to continue its aggression even more. You can only get energy stability by cutting Russia out of your energy supply chain.

@apotk95 That may be so. I do not know enough about German immigration to comment. But they always have the option of creating a targetted immigration program that will get them the skilled workforce they need. That's up to the German people and their government to decide
