@aww7056 No doubt that's true. But it comes with consequences. If you work in any industry where China is engaged in product dumping, your job is on the line. If China succeeds, your industry eventually collapses and then you are dependent on China for that product in the future.

@watchman835 I buy quality over cheap Chinese junk every day. Once you don't have a job, even that $5 will seem expensive. And if it's not your job that's lost, it will be many others around you. The economy will be devastated. I see so many Americans decrying the hollowing out of the middle class, the resulting economic calamity, the homelessness. But these things happened precisely because of outsourcing to China. So buy your $5 Temu crap by all means But look at the consequences all around you and understand their source.

@craiggillett5985 What you describe is exactly the problem. Products are being dumped on the NZ market at below cost price. But that is unsustainable . Once local NZ retailers close and massive job losses result just remember that it was your choices that led to that. Half the shops in the mall will close. What little NZ manufacturing currently exists will come to an end. Your tax base will be eroded along with your balance of payments. Aside from agriculture and tourism (very expensive tourism) your economy produces nothing of value to the world. You will be a vasal state of China.
