  2. The decline will probably be similar to that of Japan. China has probably reached its peak or is very close to doing so. After that a period of stagnation followed by slow relative decline is likely. If it happens that way, we may avoid war between the US and China. On the other hand, they may think they have one last chance to grab Taiwan before the decline. Only time will tell.
