@ZAIN-uk3om If the USSR could not withstand Western pressure and collapsed, how will Russia manage to do it? The USSR was far stronger than Russia and Russia depends heavily on western technology to run its military and its energy industries. Delude yourself as much as you like, but Russia has no chance of withstanding the sanctions and the pressure that it is under now. There is only one possible outcome: the collapse of Russia.

@ZAIN-uk3om Keep deluding yourself.

@amber40494 With the Lend Lease becoming law, Ukraine now has virtually unlimited weapons and ammunition for years. Russia cannot win a war of attrition. It will find it very difficult to hold on to its meagre gains.

@trevorcrook5753 The sanctions are having minimal effect on the West. Their effect on Russia has been immediate. But the most severe effects will happen over months and years. Let's see you make the same claim in 5 years. The sanctions put in place after 2014 resulted in a drop in annual Russian GDP from $2.2 trillion to $1.5 trillion. Those sanctions were mild by comparison. It will become economically impossible for Russia to support its military and hold on to any gains in Ukraine. Putin has started cold war 2. This is not going to end until one side breaks. The USSR collapsed and it was far stronger than Russia. All the West has to do is rinse and repeat and Russia will slowly either and die. Enjoy the collapse. I know I will.

You must be a Russian troll. Zelensky is doing a great job. Many generals are saying Russia can't win or hold on to Ukraine. They simply do not have the resources. Russia will not win and keep Ukraine because the Ukrainian people are prepared to defend their homeland with their lives.

@GB-gf3dm The US would pursue its national interests if a turnip was in charge. So the more sleep old Joe gets the better. I'm not concerned in the least.

@pompeythegreat297 Some things are entirely foreseeable. Anyone old enough to have witnessed the collapse of the USSR can see the writing on the wall. The USSR at least had a chance at success. Russia is far weaker economically, militarily and politically and the Western countries are far stronger than they were 30-40 years ago. Russia is doomed to failure. Anyone who is objective and has analytical skills can foresee it.

@pompeythegreat297 The writing is on the wall. If the USSR, with all its power, could not survive cold war 1, then Russia has no hope of surviving cold war 2. Russia may do ok while oil and gas prices are high and they can maintain production levels and sort of the massive logistical problems they face. But as soon as any of those circumstances change, they are sunk. And change they will. Their war will only hasten the switch away from carbon fuels. This was happening any way, but now Russia has accelerated the process. Within 10-15 years they will have nothing to sell that the world wants to buy.

Has Australia invaded the Solomon Islands? You need to learn some critical thinking skills.

If their nukes work as well maybe Putin making good on some of his threats wouldn't be all bad.

@ripdoff8549 Not a chance. $20 billion per day is $7.3 trillion a year. The entire Russian economy was approx. $1.5 trillion before the war and the sanctions. It's likely to drop below $1 trillion very soon. That means you are generating only 1/7th of the revenue you need to sustain the war and that's not counting all your other expenditure. Russia is going to be broke very soon.

A mutant is already running the Kremlin.

@navinkumar6388 When did Ukraine join NATO genius?

If you really believe Russian state media is more truthful and accurate than western media, you must have rocks in your head.

It's Russia who should be begging for peace because there is no way for them to hold on to their gains. They are politically, economically and socially isolated and with unlimited heavy weapons flowing in to help Ukraine, they are trapped in an unwinnable war. The war Putin has unleashed will ultimately destroy the Russian Federation just as USSR aggression in Afghanistan and many other places led to the collapse of the Soviet Union.

More war crimes that must be punished at the ICC.
