  1. ​ @lilacer6841  I thought the USSR did that. Without the resources of the other Republics, it would have been impossible. But most of those other Republics are now in the EU and NATO. Dwell on the past as much as you like. But Russia cannot compete with the EU and NATO economically, technologically or militarily. Enjoy your decline into poverty and irrelevance.

  2. ​ @SecondhandLegz  Venezuela is also resource rich and so is the Democratic Republic of Congo. Having resources does not magically confer wealth on a country. You have to have the capital, the technology, the business acumen and the customers. Russia needed the West to get it's oil and gas production to where it is now. But with the Western services companies withdrawing from Russia, along with the rest of the sanctions, those days are gone. You can look forward to declining production and export of oil and gas and other minerals.
