Sorry but Thats plain stupid - There is and has been fans of both Badges for a very long time - Which car is the best is a nearly ridiculous discussion, any AMG or real M car is fast, luxurious and entertaining enough for most people. I have never been a big Mercedes fan but they do make some cool cars no doubt, but this M4 is pretty cool too and those that like BMW will take a BMW and those who like Mercedes will go for a Mercedes. If one digs a bit into the soul of the German car people one will understand that there is an ever ongoing battle between those automotive brands that has roots way back in time and in those respective cities where they are placed - it´s very different company approaches to make the best they can. One can off course not exclude AUDI and Porsche either. On the Autobahn I have seen even Q7´s battle 911´s simply due to the quality of the tarmac and how good/daring each driver is. Even its all German engineering it is not about the engineering in the end but about the emotion each brand and specific model creates for it´s owner - so there is no "No Brainer" they all outmatch each other in specific areas and in various categories. If you are a AMG fan so be it, nothing wrong with that but it does not make it a "no brainer" for everybody else, despite how logical or emotional clear it might seam to you.

  8. PvanP Well you are not wrong off, never the less if you have enough money you will usually shop among the best stuff you can get, wether it be cars, watches, restaurants, clothing - whatever. It does not necessarily mean that the "Brand" that you buy is bad, very often the contrary, else it will no longer be able to keep it´s brand promise and thereby at least over longer time ruining its Brand Value. In regard to Porsche they did not always go as the most inspiring cars in comparison to example Ferrari, and a e.g Lamborghini is without doubt more of a show off than any regular Porsche have ever been. Essentially one can not blame Porsche for seeing market opportunities, this might very well going the big cash car for Porsche. Adn it will supply Porsche with the money to keep making cars like the GT3. Yes they took a Q5 platform, but they changed nearly everything about it and whatever it is Porsche keeps getting a lot of things right these days. Personally I think the Macan looks really good in comparison to e.g. it´s big Brother. It is also looking more inspired that the Q5, but for contemporary looks I would choose an Evoque, but sadly they have not yet made a real burner model with it, at least nothing that can match the drivetrain and engines of the Macan. Personally I hope some carmaker soon will take the change to develop and offer a completely different but Modern Off Road vehicle, based on simplicity, lightweight, ruggedness and a spice of fun factor. And it would need to drop most of it´s electronic aids in the way and still not be a G-Wagon tank. Well well just thoughts :)

  10. Good Review! - I don´t like this car for 3 reasons - 1) I can´t afford it and if I could I would not buy it 3) I don´t like how it looks. If I wanted a Bentley it would not be this one for sure and if I wanted an SUV it would not be this one for sure - think that covers all the 4 reasons.....

  12. Sorry but a lot of smaller engines these days make quite a lot of power in regard to their size. With new turbo tech their torque can be quite amazing as well. Just think about what various automakers are able to extract from small engine blocks when they really need power: BMW i8 / 1.5 with 231 HP, The phenomenal but unfortunately not in production Jaguar XC75; 1.6-litre dual-boosted (turbocharged and supercharged) four-cylinder powerplant which generates 502 bhp at 10,000 rpm. And for more normal cars an Audi A1 TFSI 1.4 S produces 185 PS. The 1.2 is down around 85. But you can look a Motorcycles then and then think what is actually possible to make despite of displacement. In direct response to your comment you might be right that this new Duke is underpowered, but 113 bhp does not sound too bad, though somewhere around 130-140 would be more attractive for a driver orientated model.

  13. +sully sole I agree - I did not like it a first, the feature crease on the side seams to forced, but the front is really well resolved, the rear is average but the overall profile is well rounded a bit bulky but not goofy. The stance is quite good which for me is the most important part of how a car looks. I do like Honda but I also dislike them for being so inconsistent where their models - Sometimes the bring really great car and other times one simply can´t figure out what happened. But this one is a kind of Mature solution that neither is top exciting nor horrible - So IMO they found a good balance here.

  14. Well KIA is building a quite strong Brand being fairly new, so for family and mid range cars is really not that bad a brand at all. One should also not forget that a former VW designer now leads KIA - They have IMO progressed at an remarkable rate over the last 8 years. They also won several RED DOT awards among other awards. Off course KIA can not have a big Brand heritage that will match much more established car makers, but for a "new comer" the KIA brand is doing rather well.

  15. SEAT has reached a great DNA for their exterior design. I saw one of these the other day and I actually had to look twice. I live in Berlin and I see plenty of nice cars around. So well I like this SEAT design.

  16. I rented a C4 Picasso once for weekend trip, it was actually quite good for such a car and IMO it also looks quite good for an MPV - like the shorter version better though.

There is plenty of other more emotional car reviews around - I follow quite a few and yet I still enjoy CarBuyer because it reviews not only the top spec super cars that most of us can not afford anyway, but all the normal cars. It´s a limited setup and a strict editorial form but holds the essential information - which is exactly why they can review so many cars as they do. A few info-graphics could help the reviews. I like CarBuyer reviews because they are short and straight up with a smile ;)

  18. It's astounding how great a luxury GT this car is and how good it looks and the how ugly the Bentayga is in comparison. Nicely spotted with the veneers not lining up – I am quite sure that this detail is something that will be noted by Bentley since it is far from unsolvable. Good reveiw.

  19. Those who do more "Autobahn" on a regular basis or simply commute more at medium or slightly longer distances. But yea it is a bit weird sometimes with the Diesel "Hot hatches" like e.g. the golf GTD. But even the Alpina 3 series is available as a diesel as well - and it should be extremely good, covering both sport and economy.

  20. Well it is a very good all rounder is it not?. I´m not a fan and would properly opt for another car, but the Golf GTI is hard to be on many levels, especially if you have family.

  21. Well I do not like that the MINI grows in dimensions, but so is the lifecycle of most modern cars. I do like how this new version looks, it´s still MINI DNA and they managed to make it look slightly more dynamic a contained - That rear spoiler e.g. flow extremely nice with the roof and the extra black plastic edges does not take the look down either in fact I find that it even make the profile more clear.

  22. Good review and with a little surprising end verdict to it. I´m not really an Audi fan but it´s not that I do not like Audi´s, they make very high quality and their service is extremely well put together. But for looks the older 5 series had more beautiful lines - and thats not little since that car really made the 5 Series Coupe stand out when it was launched, the sway over the rear box was the the touch of beauty - if you choose some nice rims and a good color the S and RS 5 looked fantastic - a pleasure to the eye and in line with classical GT Coupes over the years. This new RS5 and the 5 Coupes in general does not have the same grace as the older model and it has been sacrificed for practicality. The mid section has been pushed forward so the hood is a little shorter and the rear box is a little bit longer - but it´s enough to offset the classic high end sport coupe cut. When the mid section is pushed towards the middle you end up having some numbness or dullness due to the visual volumes not coming out clearly, not making enough dynamics. But perhaps or rather for sure Audi has researched what their customers would like - And it was apparently practicality, more space in for the backseats and more space in the trunk. So there you have it - Audi people are practical folks who like luxury and things that works well - A good and very fast car is enough - it does not have to be exciting to drive, neither be compromised for design reasons. Well it could look better, but it could also be far worse. What used to be my favorite Audi is not my favorite anymore.

  25. Good Review, Really like the Honda Cabin and especially the dashboard layout. Never the less they somehow ruined the exterior from what was show on the concept. Something is simply not sexy, neither really powerful looking - My best guess it that it has to do with the Wheels - They sit to deep in the arches and thereby simply do not appear aggressive enough to "carry" all those wild spoilers and creases. And as nearly every tuner fan would know the stance has to be right before anything else - You can have the worst looking rusty car wreck - Put the right wheels on it and there you go, suddenly it has some appeal. The only thing you do not do is to start with the spoilers, creases, splitters while your car sits on small wheel and standard rubber - that is a no go. - Sadly this is how the new R-Type appears in my eyes. Luckily one can change the wheels  and there will for sure be version of this Car that counters this issue. Never the less it should be better from the start imo.

  26. I like the exterior design of it, very good and dynamic for an SUV and it does not look heavy or like it´s design was taken from another DNA line and then pushed into being an SUV - That i find is the problem with many SUV´s especially the some of the upper market brands. Good Review ;)

  27. TheKenjoje Yes I would agree to that, though Honda do make some nice cars from time to time and they perhaps make some of the best engines other FWD cars certainly have better handling in the current moment in time.

  31. Hate to say this, but it looks better than both the X1, X3, Q3 and Q5. Maybe because i does not have to struggle so much with a long history DNA, - Lines is simply a different and more modern unhindered approach to a small SUV. Good Job KIA.

  32. Good Review - classic CarBuyer, not so much fuzz. Only thing about the suspension getting a little to little and too much attention since it had 3 modes. Never mind i really like the Sirocco, it´s a German car with a passionate and sporty design. I would be happy driving one. Cheers

  36. Of course it´s no beauty, but I like the fact that i drives well, also off road and that it has a simple and rugged look that fit´s the simplistic interior. It´s not trying to be more than what it is. If you live on the country side and can´t afford a more expensive 4x4/SUV - this little car will do the job well and possible get you through a snowy winter better than many other cars. Nothing on the exterior design really looks awkward or out of proportion - it´s just a simple and compact design.

  37. Good review as always. But i don´t like this 308 much I must admit - but i´m not the target group anyway. But it looks quite heavy and a bit dull due to it´s rounded backend and the large front overhangs and main lights. For me it just ads up to be rather boring looking all together - no sporty hints, no design lines that really express some quality. Details look good and for a family hatch it´s properly very viable, but then the rear space is not optimal.

Only problem i have with it - is that it´s still the ugliest BMW on sale, Sorry BMW but these X1´s and X3´s they just dont´ look very good IMO (This genration is thou better looking than the former one). And the AUDI Q3 and Q5 is no better in that way, they just look extremely boring. Really desire both brands, but in this segment im´ happy that the Evoque has boosted the freshness of exterior styling possibilities.

  44. There are way too many SUVs on the market, and Diesel should go, ist far more damaging than we can imagine. Apart from that, I must say that is is a very good looking SUV – Clean and clear lines, does not try to hard and simply comes out very well sorted for the exterior profile. Perhaps the Grill is a bit over the top a very wide grin, but it is somehow still maintained. The Current VW DNA fits the SUV segment better than many other competing brands also within the groups own subbrands

  47. It´s a good sporty car that RCZ, not a bad move from Peugeot. Wether one likes it or not - It´s one of those cars that all car enthusiasts should welcome since it adds options for Drivers along with all the other competitors. it would not be my first option in this segment still I think it is nice to see something looking different and add some sportiness to the overall automotive arena within reach of many people.

  50. I just went to a little trip to the south of Germany, pulling into a tank station an there is two car carrier trucks full of Yellow M4´s + a few red M6´s - Dear Lord I just need one.
