I´d recommend seeing the 5 episode Netflix Documentary "The Family" – This secretive organisation have been around for +70 years giving spiritual advice to all US Presidents and exactly endorse powerful and influential individuals as being chosen by God. The documentary is not one-sided but it gives a very (at least to me) concerning insight into how they use the evangelic message. Trump, Carter and other politicians are in this Documentary. Trump being the "Chosen One" certainly rings a bell in this relation.
