Well send all politicians worldwide on a one year sabbat only to be called in on extreme cases – Essentially Nothing at all would happen. The major problem with political careers in many democracies is that they offer longer-term benefits and high pensions long after the politician have stopped working. It spurs persons with no real political intent to work their ways into politics in all kind of parties from left to right so "we" just get a bunch of self-centred people with no real interests in developing the democratic constructs and thereby the societies that have been build. The amount of money that the political corpses in government actually controls are overall very little compared to the budgets that have already been assigned. A lot of fuzz based on emotional topics over real visions and actual constructive solutions, furthermore hindered, halted, obstructed or diverted by the immense influence of super large corporations. It is worth to remember that Democracy is not the final solution to social constructs – and certainly not if it does not develop.
