When your 16 or 17 year of age You are just a teenager who is irresponsible and can not muster anything constructive - when you turn 18 you are now irreversibly and without further due process a highly responsible and well informed person who certainly is proof safe to own a Gun or an A-R 15 with a scope. Yea right - Makes completely sense to anybody who has something to sell to the 18 year old. - Hehe these politicians and all their lobby ties to various and controversial behind the scene plays, power games, greed, popularity votes, and population fear control mechanisms, ......they keep the whole ship afloat, by throwing people overboard and into the abyss, with no remorse what so ever. How did we get to this in the first place ? and why haven´t we gotten out of it yet ? I really hope for US that the Gun policy revised and up to date - Guns doses not belong in the public by civil man or woman - Civil means Civil - "Relating to ordinary citizens and their concerns, as distinct from military or ecclesiastical matters". #IamUnarmed

@ Miles Jenkins - Just because you are allowed to, does not necessarily make something right - That is why we use political systems in stead of fighting to find out how to make the societies we create better and safer places to be in. - Which is the very subject of what is the debated in the backlight of yet another shooting incident with innocent people killed in the USA. Your neighboring country Australia prohibited guns quite a while ago after yet another mass shootings happened - After the prohibition the events of Mass shootings have dropped drastically. NZ had a few mass shootings but that has not been the case in later history post 1996. So it appears that the New Zealanders have a better self control and self regulation with their guns - Perhaps the vetting programs and the NZ Police own take on the subject with local checks etc. is helping out to avoid severe mass shootings or guns landing in the wrong hands. Perhaps it is because having a gun in NZ is related to its intentional user purpose, idk - I do not live in New Zealand, but for sure the liberal gun laws works in the New Zealand, but the same can not be said about the USA. I am quite sure that the people of NZ and their respective parties would do something if everyday someone was killed due to gun violence or let´s a say someone went mad with their AR15 and killed a lot of school kids or other civilian groups several times a year - It would even believe something would be done if someone massacred a whole lot of sheep herds. I am guessing - but I would believe that most gun owners in NW have guns to protect and regulate pest and similar environmental challenges or not?. The kids in he US that currently have taken political action does not even want to remove all weapons in the USA, they are asking for background checks, for limitation of magazine capacities and other regulation options, so that there is a better grip on to whom has weapons, where and why. Somehow it seams like a more than fair proposition when the gun violence is so pronounced as it is.
