...Which is exactly why School Teachers would be even less prepared. There is or at least should be good reasons why someone choose to work and educate kids, while others are applying to become special ops soldiers or work at Wall Street etc. - Different personalities, different skills and talents.

@ idg_ 7th - Well your comment outlines quite well why arming School Teachers as a solution to the challenges is a really bad idea. Also I must as a non US citizen also question if the education of US police is sufficient? - That be seen in the light that at least in some US states the education and training to becoming a Police Officer take as little as 6 month. That surely overall must be held in question - Nearly all common educations on average takes about a minimum of 3 years to complete. Becoming a civil servant and upholder of the law, with the means to arrest, even shoot suspects under dire circumstances appears to be a job requiring a full education that should be at least of 3 years period. In any case as it is now, and due to your clear commentary - Neither placing police officers or giving teachers gun training would seam like a feasible solution to the challenges and problems currently being debated.
