Most westerns however and most especially Muricans did not even know about his or Libya's existence before 2011 and the cartoonish way that the media portrayed him. So it's not really ''polarizing''. It's either those who lived under him or lived in countries that beneffited from the alliance with Gaddafi's Libya or those who knew him after 2011 with the childish media propaganda of the west. And also those of the Arab gulf and Turkey who have Islamist mentality that oppose him!!!

No matter how much you try to neutralise events, giving equal judgment to victims and perpetrators like you do now and turning everything to ''gray'', Gaddafi didn't INVADE YOUR COUNTRY like the US did. The USA VIOLATED the national sovereignity of Libya while Gaddafi stayed there and died for his country ignoring both his ''personal ambitions'' as well as his wealth he could have exploitted by abandoning Libya(something which debunks your theory of ''all people seek the same things''). This objectively implies that Gaddafi was a heroic defender IN THIS WAR while the USA imposed an imperialist war that no matter what excuse you try to bring up, had no legitimate cause to do so. Also you speak of '' many murders and tortures'' as if every single person arrested by the legitimate Libyan government was de facto an innocent bird. Do you have any idea how many innocent people your governments have tortured and slain?? The point is, Americans are the last people on earth to speak on behalf of human rights or democracy on other country, and graying events or throwing out the ''everyone commits crimes'' leveling logic is nothing more than another attempt to belittle and undervalue or even worse to justify the USA international ''police state'' policies, which have turned out to be a real threat for the planet!!!
