  1. Gold is fairly useful, but the reason it is so valuable is because there's not much of it and it's shiny, as well as not degrading over time. So that was good for most of history but there are so many more ways to exchange value now, and gold isn't a significant one.

  2. Gold does not deserve a fraction of the attention it still receives, it is nigh-on obsolete already.
