  1. It's actually not as tragic or barbaric as all this, it's simply that simulating potential worlds is alot easier than going out and colonising them. We don't see galactic civilisations because the amount of effort required to create them is vastly larger than making super computers that can simulate environments in which they've already been made, along with everything and anything else.
