Colleges should offer money back guarantee. In that case, they would become more selective about the students they admit. Now anyone with a pulse can go to college. Most people don’t belong to college, which has led to watered down college material and basket weaving majors. College should be for the best and the brightest and free for the poor and talented. Everyone else can learn on their own. Libraries are free.

T Zinot Exactly. This will not stop colleges from recruiting as many students as possible and have them sign up for the loans they can’t afford to pay back. Instead of addressing the consequences, the root causes should be addressed. College is obsolete and is suitable for only a handful of jobs that truly require college. Everything else should be on the job training and self-education. College is just a money racket for most majors. If people want to study liberal arts and humanities, they could pay out of pocket or get a private scholarship, and absolutely not receive any loans for free that.
