  1. No, it doesn't. Just the countries that oppose the West. Nobody sanctioned the US for any of its invasions or bombings, so you point is just wrong. Europe did not embargo Washington for bombing Syrian hospitals, or for toppling multiple governments and sending tanks in to mortar cities (is this ringing a bell from the last few days?) This was never about human rights, it was about asserting power, from both sides.

  2.  @HansHammertime  Yes. You are selectively applying values not based on whether they are being upheld, but on who your friends are. If you really cared about people's wellbeing in the face of state aggression, you'd boycott American products, and sanction their economy to dust too. Retroactively, even, since those values are supposed to be timeless. How about this: what should happen the next time the US bombs a Middle Eastern country? Should the world cut them off financially too? Wouldn't that be fair?
