@SubjectiveFunny There was no mistake to make. They had the nuclear launch sites, but not the codes, which were always in Moscow. Their ICBMs gave them no leverage whatsoever, even as a deterrent.

@genoric4094 Neither was there an official agreement to take missiles out of Cuba, but the US clearly understands that some agreements can be honored without needing a treaty to essentially keep both parties from screening the deal. They have done it in the past. The fact that Russia kept its end, but the US didn't, says a lot more about the US' trsutworthiness then it does Russia's aggression.

@ItsClout_ The US is by far the largest weapons producer and it runs 99% of the logistics needed for NATO to function. It hosts army bases in Eurooean countries, it sets the standard for what all the other members must produce (interoperability), it dictates policy. Tell me again how it's not an extension of the US when it makes all ot the weapons and runs all of the wargames?

@ItsClout_ The US rigged the elections in Italy and Greece in 1947-8 to ensure they would stay out of the Eastern Bloc and eventually become NATO members. Finland's PM admitted on TV that he faced pressure from the US to join NATO.

@NothingSerious...2 No you dolt. Soviets agreed to stop building the launch pads in Cuba, US agreed to take Jupiter nuclear missiles out of Turkey. JFK told Kruschchev that it has to remain secret so America wouldn't lose face ("we can have missiles near you, but you can't have them near us!") and that if he leaked info to Western press, the US would deny the deal ever happened. I think you're just dumb. You don't understand history in-depth. The US understands full well that some situations need to be resolved without treaties.
