@MaycroftCholmsky What he means to say in this particular case, is that Ukraine was essentially gifted this piece of land completely demographically and politically different from the rest of the country. Eastern Ukraine included. It's like European nations, complete with UN delegations and blue helmets, insisting that existing borders in Africa be honored. They're so bureaucratic as to ignore the reasons behind border conflicts— they're not drawn along any meaningful ethnic or cultural lines.

@dimaignatiev6370 This depends on what you define as 'world power', then. Even China, with its huge economy and population, is afraid of letting a little island (Taiwan) govern itself. This is because being a 'superpower' doesn't make you immune from having weaknesses. The Ukraine administration isn't 'close to' Russia anymore, and Crimea is strategic in the Black Sea. If Turkey or the U.S. dominates the Black Sea instead of Russia, then Russia will have no easy access trading with Europe and the Balkans. Turkey already controls all Russian exports to Europe, we cannot let them have more. Same idea with China and Taiwan- the U.S. could make Taiwan blockade China's only path to the ocean at any time. This is unacceptable for any country. Certain little pieces are geographically important to control.

@J3wuigi How does that magically exclude him from being an intelligence asset? He's also a fervent Islamophobe, but no one in the Western media wants to talk about that. He'd trade conflict in the Eastern Europe for conflict in Central Asia. And very few people care about Navalny everyday, they are more worried about falling pensions and wages
