  1. Unfortunately, updates are a part of software. Bugs that were not known at the time of development get discovered, and they need to be patched. File formats and standards can change (you may need to update drivers if a new Power Delivery standard comes to market). Hackers exploit vulnerabilities constantly, and those need to be patched asap unless you want your files potentially compromised. While I get the idea (Adobe in particular is horrible about CONSTANTLY sending updates), updates as a whole do serve a purpose.
