A few points of contention about the religion section at 19:11- Qin China believed in ancestor worship and (as a side note) China never really had traditional religions like the rest of the world; only philosophies and vague references to the past's importance. Nazi Germany was officially opposed to Christianity (for obvious Jesus-related reasons), but most of its subjects were Christian, and the Party had already started glorifying Nordic pagan gods and (retroactively claimed) Roman mythological figures, as well. Imperial Japan was firmly Shinto- it was part and parcel of their perceived return to tradition, which included putting Hirohito at the top of Japanese society again, instead of the Shogunate as had been true for centuries prior. Also, there are plenty of places that are atheist and relatively dynamic- modern France and Czech Republic, Finland, Denmark, etc
