@yad-thaddag I suppose there's not much at this point. Maybe Germany could threaten to not take any gas from Nord Stream 2? But that's about it. Russia has already figured out how to operate under constant sanctions, so all the punishment options that were possible, have already been put in place. A possible (though unlikely) scenario, especially since Britain has shown willingness to defy Russia, would be to seize the assets of the oligarchs. But that would cause an enormous amount of chaos, I don't think it's worth the risk for either side.

@spectre2889 Wow, a single person. You sure have me convinced. I'm talking about the last two public polls held in Ukraine asking whether they'd like to join a European economic partnership, or a Russian one. The results show most of the south and east of the country voting for a Ruaaian partnership, with the north and west being more Western-oriented.

Where, exactly? Russia has a large ethnic population in border countries, not the other way around. The West would need some impressive gymnastics to justify a land grab, even by 'Russian logic' standards.

@lucianioncelescu3302 Possibly East Bank Ukraine? It has consistently voted against joining any Western organizations in the past several Ukrainian elections. In fact, most of the south and eastern regions are Russian-speaking and/or supporting.

@spectre2889 Did you not read my comment? The part that speaks Russian also happens to consistently oppose integration with the West (2004 and 2012). The political lines and linguistic lines overlap alot.
