  1. Well, it's hard to separate the effects of US sanctions from Maduro's rule. Maybe ask your wife this: if Venezuela got a change in leadership but still remained sanctioned, would Venezuelans be happier? If not, then they're not tired of Maduro, they're tired of US sanctions. It would be a shame for the Venezuelan people to be coerced into wanting regime change just so their basic needs can be met, when Venezuela sits on enormous oil wealth. It should be able to sell freely without US influence in their country. The best path forward isn't to give in to the US' demands, but to break its hold over the global economy and allow Venezuela to forge an independent path.
