Outside of their home country, they have to be. Once they feel secure enough in Israel, that all goes out the window. Emphasizing education was their survival tactic for thousands of years. They can't physically fight off any people they come across, because other nations are bigger and stronger. So they have perfected getting into positions of power to keep safe. That's not to say they're all like that— plenty of nativized Jews who live normal lives, but a good chunk are wealthier than the average person in any county they inhabit, and it isn't by coincidence.
