@madtechnocrat9234 Technically it was the other way around. August 1999, Republic of Ichkeria invades Dagestan in Russia. After the war ended they lost their independence. Sucks to suck

@natebox4550 Say whatever you want but we got Chechnya under control. No more terrorism and no chance of NATO bases in our southern region

@madtechnocrat9234 Bro you must really care about Russia if you took the time out of your day to write all that😂

@natebox4550 Nostradamus I see! Also why would anyone want that? More terrorists, Caucasus infighting and US "stabilization" in the region?

@madtechnocrat9234 You also missed the point. Ignored the facts on the ground and jumped right to musing about freedom. Wow. The State Department finally hired liberal arts majors it seems 330 casualties is absolutely worth the safety of 110M Russians on the European side. Are you aware that Shamil Basaev declared a jihad on Moscow after Chechnya invaded Russia? But no, we're the ones who hate freedom, who don't want Sharia to be implemented by some Saudi funded warlord. Yes, we're the ones with the concrete skulls, not the imperialist whose prosperity comes on the back of centuries of slavery. Only after their place has been secured, do they feel comfortable lecturing others about what to do. You literally bombed a nation to death after a single plane crashed into your territory. Don't talk to me about "they will be your brother until they sense you are free".

@madtechnocrat9234 I do. You're the one who wants it to be weakened and made powerless to defend the interests of its own people. And if you want to say "Putin isn't defending the interests of the people" I'd invite you to look back at the 1990s to the alternative: Yeltsin was a very pro-Western president and did everything the "right" way according to the US. How did that turn out?

@ThatGuyWayOverThere Turkey was in NATO before Russian Federation existed, not much it could have done to prevent that. Baltics are tiny and easily surrounded. Finland is an issue, but it is mostly forest and easy to defend from both the Finnish and Russian side. Ukraine is flat and on Russia's southern region. Much more important.

@maqwerderwuwilliam Broke the truce? What world are you living in? The border was closed several months before the attacks were carried out. 7 border guards were killed. President Mashkadov was perfectly capable of stopping Basaev and Ibn-al-Khattab, but didn't. Why? I think your words are the last desperate arguments of someone who is willing to justify anything, even terrorism, if it hurts 'the other team'. And as for the apartment bombings— even if Western media is true, not even they dispute the initial invasion. Russia would still have needed to bomb Chechnya, even if there was no popular support for it. Do you expect them to just allow their entire southern region to be turned into an Islamic State instead?

@ThatGuyWayOverThere Barely has any armor left... It's been a year since they're "out of armor and ammo" lol Also you don't need weapons to pacify the Baltics. Just siege them and create a blockade. wait until they capitulate.
