  3. I can't grow a gun in my backyard. It's an industrial product, and it's hard even for criminals to make. If they're restricted, and the criminals that use them slowly killed off, then only people without mental health problems and military servicemen will have access to them. That would reduce deaths massively.

  6. @behind you ?? That's not true- it's a nice excuse to not try new policies, though. Sweden has as many immigrants (by proportion, obviously) as the U.S. has African Americans. There are also numerous examples that don't bode with your ideas. Brazil isn't "racially harmonious", but has a decent public healthcare system, for all citizens. Same with Germany and its sizable Turkish population, from long before the recent Middle Eastern migration. Also, link studies that show direct causation between ethnic homogeneity, and socialist policies, please. Otherwise there's no way to know whether it's not just your feverish imagination working here. Thanks

  8. If I had to guess, it's ppl generalizing. "White" voice is more nasal, enunciating each syllable more, very rigid with grammar. "Black" voice comes more from the chest, shortens and plays with some vowels, and has a different grammar and vocabulary. Obviously not true for everyone, but the dialect of english developed after the Great Migration is what most Americans think of as "black", and midwest-suburban whites have the "white" voice. Not true everywhere but that's how people see it

  12.  @StormChaserJ  Update: unbeknownst to the world until a few days ago, the Amazon rainforest has been burning (uncontrolled fires- Bolsonaro recently had to call on the police and firefighters to put it out) for over 19 days now. The world is, in fact, on fire. Siberia and California are experiencing similar phenomena. Parts of India will soon become uninhabitable for human life, Indonesia has already started evacuating Jakarta in anticipation of flooding in coming years, and the entire population of the Maldives has agreed to relocate to Fiji in the wake of their country facing massive flooding, which will swallow the country up in several years.

Fun fact, many Ethiopians don't consider themselves 'African' because they're not part of the Bantu group, they're Kushidic. Afterwards, get some Nilotic people (like Masaai) and Khoi or San people, see the perspectives

I'd also like to see what you think the quality of the studies are (double-blind, peer-reviewed, good methodology, grant funded, etc.) Ironically, reading scientific papers is an art, and most climate denial is funded by oil companies. Let me know if these statements sound familiar to you: "Personal responsibility" "He couldn't control his urges" "Boys will be boys" The latter two contradict the first. When a poor or colored person does something wrong, it's his/her fault, and (s)he should learn to embrace conservative values like pulling yourself up by your bootstraps, and being responsible for your actions. When a white person does something wrong (for instance, groping a woman,) it's the woman's fault for dressing the way she did, and liberals are trying to ruin American traditions. Get the point? Conservatives cherry-pick accountability for one's actions, usually on the basis of similarity to themselves. A very tribal bunch.

And many conservatives hate colleges for "indoctrinating" people despite it being a mostly neutral experience. Not to mention the fact that they're more likely to have gone to a trade school (working with hands instead of brain), and believe that the Earth is 6,000 years old.

  22. At some point, you have to draw a line between principle and reality. If a Constitutional right causes people harm, would you keep it? Hopefully your answer to that question is "no- you amend it." As for the two examples, you're correct- we DO blame the people, because people use tools. That being said, where do you stop? Someone choked on legos? BAN LEGOS! It's an argument used by pro-gun people and it's ridiculous. You draw the line where people can't control the outcome of having a tool in society. If Americans don't want to restrict the sale of firearms to mentally ill people (because of 'freedom'), and people keep dying, then you either let people keep dying, or get rid of gun manufacture and import altogether. One or the other.

It specifically serves to pacify the other males in the family, as too many can lead to violence (reduced chance of survival) when competing for women. Also, I'm genuinely curious, besides your emotional reaction to homosexuals in public (even though facts don't care about your feelings) why you care so much about them. Are they hurting you? Why do you want to force them to have relations with women? Why do you care?

Showing off your ass and selling detox teas on Instagram isn't absolutely necessary. It's a job, but not everyone can be successful at it. With an office job you have a guaranteed stable income, you're not doing commission work.

  43.  @timothybennett0313  I think you're saying, "if we had a higher minimum wage, companies would raise the price of goods and living." In the rest of the developed world, this problem doesn't exist to such a severe degree. Ordinary people make more, those at the top make less than in America. No one has to raise prices- but CEOs are insistent that they keep their offshore tax money and ridiculous salaries. If they weren't so greedy and didn't lobby to render our government toothless and ineffectual, we wouldn't have these problems.

  44.  @Sabartio  The communists have enjoyed a resurgence, but they're still a tiny minority of people in the U.S., always have been. And, as the other person replied with, most boomers have expansion of government programs on their mind when referring to socialism/communism. In any case, they should be a wake-up call for any die-hard capitalists, because the system we've been told to have faith in for 40+ years has been failing, and the failures have reached a critical mass. Laissez-faire capitalism isn't the way to go- too many people are lacking basic services for it to have 'worked'.

The authority itself should never be the basis for believing someone. But, if they're speaking, chances are they can articulate more in detail and with better understanding than someone not working in that field.

The majority of people who are fat simply overload their livers with fructose on a day-to-day basis and don't allow their bodies to process their visceral fat. If you have a genetic problem, then you'd be a great spokesman for fat-acceptance, but not a great representative. Insulin sensitivity and thyroid issues are awful, but in the U.S., only 2-3% of people have it. Most people just eat too much sugar and don't exercise. It started in the 1970's with the release of the McGovern Report, and instead of fixing the politics, people pretend that it's okay to squeeze your organs between slabs of fat.

  49.  @Grazty  Still not easy. The manufacturing tolerances for guns are very low, otherwise firing could harm the owner. Gunpowder needs to be produced, metal needs to be milled, parts need to be sourced, it's much harder to do than grow coca leaves or marijuana. I'm not saying (for example) the Sinaloa couldn't make their own, but a gun shop open near their territory to give "good guys" guns, will just end up increasing the violence overall.
