I can't grow a gun in my backyard. It's an industrial product, and it's hard even for criminals to make. If they're restricted, and the criminals that use them slowly killed off, then only people without mental health problems and military servicemen will have access to them. That would reduce deaths massively.

@mr.nemesis6442 Can't stop acid attacks. They're always by surprise. I can see someone winding up to throw a knife, but I can't see the vial of acid in someone's fist. By the time you reach for your glock, your face is burning off.

At some point, you have to draw a line between principle and reality. If a Constitutional right causes people harm, would you keep it? Hopefully your answer to that question is "no- you amend it." As for the two examples, you're correct- we DO blame the people, because people use tools. That being said, where do you stop? Someone choked on legos? BAN LEGOS! It's an argument used by pro-gun people and it's ridiculous. You draw the line where people can't control the outcome of having a tool in society. If Americans don't want to restrict the sale of firearms to mentally ill people (because of 'freedom'), and people keep dying, then you either let people keep dying, or get rid of gun manufacture and import altogether. One or the other.

@dionakgamer7769 Could you send me a link? All the vice videos that came up for me were over 5 years old, and the guns in them came from arms dealers. I'm not saying that guns can't be made from scratch, but it's much harder than just buying them from an American proxy company. Plus, I didn't say that responsible owners couldn't have guns. If you're not a danger to yourself or others, you should be able to have a gun. But your competency should be checked every few years, like we do with cars (license+ retesting) or anything else.

@CaptiveBred Do you plan on actually addressing what I said? I'm still waiting for anyone to send me a link of a gun being made without factory help, start to finish. If it's so easy and widespread, send me the link.

@11kazmoz Which country? And how effective is that? Without an industrial plant, it is difficult to make a gun with a twisted hexagonal barrel, that can shoot straight. I understand that people will still have them, and the people affected by criminals will change their minds and fight for gun use, but they don't take into account the thousands of people saved who otherwise would have died in shootouts (that were prevented because guns were, for example, confiscated at the Mexican border).

@Grazty Still not easy. The manufacturing tolerances for guns are very low, otherwise firing could harm the owner. Gunpowder needs to be produced, metal needs to be milled, parts need to be sourced, it's much harder to do than grow coca leaves or marijuana. I'm not saying (for example) the Sinaloa couldn't make their own, but a gun shop open near their territory to give "good guys" guns, will just end up increasing the violence overall.
