  1. The NIMBYs refuse any new development anywhere near them (usually old, hate loud noises) so they push against any proposals for new housing to be built. Deal with them, and you can meet the increased demand, and maybe even lower prices.

  2.  @DARK2665  No, they don't. But old conservatives (Not In My Backyard— NIMBYs)— do. They halt new development by voting against any new buildings in their areas, and since they live in the suburbs outside the metro area, they occupy a large chunk of potential land, boxing the city in.
