  1. Paul Tello Much of French gastronomie is based in foods not native to France. Grapes used to make wine are from Greece and Middle East. Cheese was invented in Eastern Europe. Saffron is Iranian. Cocoa is American. No culture is perfectly isolated and did everything by itself and is gloriously unique and pure. That's not how it has ever been. Guns only work because China invented gunpowder and metal which was first smelted in North Africa.
