@hobas-l5g Is limited to Europe. Not very useful for international trade. This is also why China eyes Taiwan- they don't care that it's a democratic Chinese nation. So is Singapore, they don't bat an eyelash. They want open access to the Pacific, and Taiwan is the easiest way. Japan and Korea are allied with the U.S., who wants to keep potential rivals down. Same old story as with USSR- stop them from having an economy

@evgeniam685 Russia only has 36% arable land. What do you mean "reality"? That is the reality. Russia needs to occupy Hokkaido, Alaska, or Istanbul. Otherwise, its entire economy is controlled by other countries. Which country would accept that? It is an enormous security risk.

@cianakril Yes. Siberia was conquered A) to create a buffer against another Mongol attack, B) to reach an ocean. The Pacific is what they reached, though at that latitude it was useless, frozen. Stop trying to paint a pragmatic country as a demon. Every other country did the exact same thing, the only reason some don't anymore is because they got what they wanted, and don't have to fight for anything anymore.

@senseypires8817 Not good enough. It is still blocked by England at Gibraltar. Best choice is to seize Hokkaido or Alaska, smaller population and easier to occupy long-term.

@acebalistic1358 They're a separate Iranic ethnic group from the Georgians, the last remnants of the Alans. They're not supported internationally bc it's not convenient to (by proxy) support Russian geopolitical interests, even if the people deserve their own state

@acebalistic1358 You're more than free to look it up yourself— they are, in fact, a distinct ethnic group and have expressed interest in statehood. Also, I don't like the Russian government. It did well the first 10 years but after ~2012 Putin stagnated Russia for the sake of geopolitics instead of helping the average Russian.

@Slender_Man_186 Um, no. Biden "being a political traitor" was the conclusion he started at and worked backwards to prove it. Not a real investigation. Case in point: he asked a foreign country (Ukraine) with something that would help his election chances. That's a big no-no. That's a violation of the Emoluments Clause. And the Impoundment Control Act. Your President is himself a filthy traitor.

@Slender_Man_186 That's not even getting into the fact that the Saudis bought up hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of hotel space while he still owned Trump Atlantic City as President. That is the most direct violation of the Emoluments Clause I can think of. He continued to receive "things of value" (Saudi money) while in office. He should have been forced to resign.

@gabigabi7743 Again, quality over quantity. Even assuming what you said is true (it isn't; Russia comes in at #4 behind US, India, and China-- it has 7.46% of all arable land. The US is the one with 10%), quality of land matters. Russia is placed at a higher latitude on the globe. So even though it has all that arable land, most of it is only usable only 3 months out of the whole year. The US, India, and China all have more arable land, it none of it is ever frozen at all. Most of it is usable 9 months out of the year. So their land can produce 2-3x as much food, despite having roughly the same amount as Russia's. "Stop war mongering" We will stop "warmongering" when our geography is secure. Do you wonder why China is aggressive with Taiwan? It is because that little island could cut off China's only access to the Pacific Ocean! And it is allied with a country that wants to keep rising superpowers in check! If America convinces Taiwan to naval blockade, hundreds of millions of Chinese could be homeless within months. India and US have long, un-blockable coastlines- this is why they are both less aggressive at sea- they face no threats to their naval economy. They're not governed better, they're just lucky to be placed where they are. Quality over quantity. I agree Russia could make use of its natural resources, but what use are they if their movement is at the whim of Turkey and the EU? If Turkey wants to shut down 100% of Russia's exports to Europe, all they need to do is block the Bosporus. Do you understand how dangerous that is? That makes Russia's economy extremely fragile, even more than it already is. This is also part of the reason why Russia exports oil and software tech. Neither can be blocked by sea.

@renshiwu305 If you're referring to Crimea specifically, I'm afraid you'd be wrong. It is, in fact, comprised of ethnic Russians. Not Ruthenians, not Ukrainians, but bona fide Russians. By a supermajority (~66%), no less. Bear in mind the annexation by Empress Katherine in 1783, and the subsequent migration of ethnic Russians there. (I don't think that annexation is arguable- unless you wanna restructure the United States' territory on the same grounds).

@renshiwu305 Yea sorry about that whole thing... I think it's worth remembering that government =/= people, and that my Ukrainian friends and I get along really well. We're basically the same, culture-wise. Hopefully you have some people in your life who remind you of the same. As for Chernobyl, RBMK reactors run well, as long as they have an adequate core and a low void coefficient.
