  1.  @shiny_teddiursa  To be fair, China's population is starting to decline too, but yes, 200M population in northeast China vs. ~10 million in eastern Siberia is no contest. Russia needs to start expanding its economy and save its birthrate now if it wants to keep hold of its territory.

  2. This was my concern, too. The Russian government won't let businesses be successful because they see them as a threat (Lukoil, VK, Telegram, etc). The economy will be larger but it will still be fragile, because it depends on only a few sources of money. Russia already has so much potential, doesn't need climate change to be rich and strong. But the oligarchs (and Putin) see this as an excuse for why things have gotten so bad recently. "It's not our fault, it's the cold!"

  3. Honestly I don't see it as a good thing. Siberia is mostly lowlands so it will get flooded (it already becomes swampy in summers). And I don't think Russian leadership will act quickly enough on this, who cares about land if all you do with it is sell food to more advanced countries?
