@Stevie-J Um... did your history teacher forget to tell you about Manifest Destiny? Lol America stopped grabbing land because, post ww2 (the example you used) it had everything within its borders. Every single type of climate, they could grow or make anything at home. Thus, they set up a global system where no one else can acquire land (because the Bretton Woods system goal was to keep any power from challenging the US). It's not that the US is morally against taking land, it's just that they dont need to anymore.

Yes! People forget that Russian oil/gas reserves (its main export) has always been abundant, the main reason for the economic boom was good management of the high oil prices.. ironically, by vladimir putin
