@javencummins1426 It's not their responsibility to move out of Crimea, they've been living there for hundreds of years before Ukraine ever existed

@normankwan6862 Not sure what you are implying here: of course Kiev is older, it is older than Rus itself. The issue here is zero-sum interests: Ukraine's security (joining a US-led pact) means Russia becomes extremely vulnerable. It cannot accept this.

@RK-cj4oc No. This would cripple Russia, you might love that idea but Russians dont. We need safe access to the Pacific and Japan will never have those islands

@RK-cj4oc Nope. For 2 generations (1991-2007), Russia did nothing to prompt NATO expansion eastward, get it continued. It's widely acknowledged that Clinton was rather pleased with Yeltsin's acquiescence to this expansion- but that does not make it justified. Case in point: in 2007, then General Secretary of NATO Scheffer announced that it would welcome Georgian and Ukrianian membership into its ranks. This, despite public polling of interest in both countries being very low. One month later, Russia occupies portions of Georgia (on the back of genuine Abkhazian and Ossetian separatist movements, thank Stalin for drawing the borders). The West reaps what it sows.

@RK-cj4oc Also, how does Russia not wanting a military base RIGHT on its border make it a bad neighbor? Japan's actions in WWII warrant a neurralizaiton of their naval capabilities- the US did the same thing. Not wanting to cripple it's own access to the Paciifc is "undemocratic", right...

@leonrothier6638 This figure is misleading, only if Russia does full mobilisation will it have a chance to take eastern Ukraine, possibly Kiev. If Europe cuts off gas imports then it might change things too, if they fall into recession they may be less willing to send weapons.

@Hardcore_Remixer Kosovo was supported fully. Of course, it was attacked while Donbass was not, but the will of the minority in both instances is the same: independence from Yugoslavia and Ukraine.

@javencummins1426 True, but those people (almost completely geographically separated from the mainland, too) wanted to continue closer political and cultural ties with Russia. What would you have proposed as a solution? A referendum for autonomy in 1994 was shot down by the Ukrainian Parliament, secret service got involved too.

@kekeke8988 I know, this is what I am referring to. Even if the Revolution happened, I think Ataturk was the biggest reason behind Russia never receiving Constantinople.

@The_Burnedman Nope, both are Russian and will remain so. Right now as we speak, they are under Russian control and no amount of youtube comments will change that :) The Tsar is dead, and it was we who killed him. Is that meant to be an insult?
