Their motivational seminars remind me so much of Evangelical leaders... there should be a documentary on this, I think, uniquely American phenomenon. Cults of personality surrounding a single, charismatic leader, taking advantage of people's vulnerability and exploiting their entrepreneurial spirit for their money.

@JamesJani Wow, thanks for replying, and for the heart! I genuinely didn't expect it, especially such a detailed response. Have you thought about sources yet? I think the history could extend all the way back to the Puritans and John Winthrop's City on a Hill idea, echoed later by President Reagan who also happened to have a sort of cult of personality. But I think the modern Evangelical movement would have to start with Billy Graham, for sure. He pioneered televangelism. And I agree, the gurus are simply weaponizing an otherwise good trait for their own profit. I don't think the video gave any wrong impressions there. You've got a new sub, love the content!
