@snow600 Even truer with nurses. But love of the job alone isn't enough to consistently make good workers, either. It's like gunpowder, only when the two ingredients are mixed does it work.

@lpflore If I'm not mistaken, Marx even listed China and Russia as not needing to undergo a Revolution because they didn't have a large enough working class— he recommended that they just skip straight to Communism (egalitarian farming society, I think)

The idea that working harder = class enemy isn't a Marxist or even Communist idea. It has nothing to do with economics and is just the paranoia of the leaders who took political control of China. Let me give an example: My family grew up in the U.S.S.R., there was no such notion. I'm afraid this isn't a valid critique of Communism. Just Maoism.
