  1.  @ethan20559  Lol, you're not too bright, then. Most of them either got lucky (gold rush, oil boom, shale boom), or are the descendants of people who got lucky (children of hedge fund managers, bankers, descendants of slaveowners in you're from the South). Plus, why should you benefit from someone else's hard work? I thought that was socialism? But when your family does it I guess that's okay?

  3.  @Wakkks  I mean, many problems are unique to either system, so I wouldn't say it's just values. Capitalists donate that money either to enrich themselves further (tax writeoffs), lobby (which is itself corruption too), and to top it all off donations don't help. They cripple domestic and local capacity to help the communities they're placed in. But fostering competition is bad for profits within a capitalist framework so of course they'll donate instead of letting those places in need develop their own goods and services. Capitalism is just feudalism waiting to happen. Most of what we buy is already owned by 4 or 5 companies anyway.

  4.  @ethan20559  "If they couldn't get it right" You're acting like it was the best shot socialism had. Every "attempt" so far has been out of sync with what Communists wanted. Marx never even intended for a revolution in Russia, arguing that they could have just skipped ahead to a utopia of living off the fertile Russian land. China had the same situation— desperation among the poor will never produce a stable transition. Neither society had a large enough working class to successfully create a nation of workers— all their resources went to rapidly industrial using or fighting world wars, Marx expected Communist nations to already have that done. I don't think it will ever happen, but a true cause study for whether communism can work would have to be in a place where manufacturing is a large chunk of the economy. Not farming, not services.
