  1. @Jay in LA No, and even if that were true, the Russian respect national monuments- the Soviets zealously protected wildlife in Russia and the satellite states. China would just turn it into a tourist attraction, like the Mormons want to. Plus I don't think turning the country into a banana republic and overthrowing its president is a reason to be grateful to the U.S.- it already ruined Guatemala long ago
