  2.  naranhan2010  Yes, but that's only 192 years of the 630 year tradition. And the Qing Dynasty wasn't even led by Chinese, but Manchu. And even if we ignore that and say it is tradition for the Dalai Lama to be selected by the state, that doesn't mean it should happen, nor does it mean whomever the Chinese dynasty chose was legitimate. Each new Dalai Lama is an incarnation of the Bodhisattva of Compassion in the Mahayana Buddhist religion. It is a re-incarnated position, unaffected by the choices of any emperor or government.
