@ecognitio9605 That still doesn't solve the problem. Someone needs to serve the ultra-wealthy, someone needs to cook their foods, book their appointments, be their doctor etc. An economy cannot exist without the bottom 90%. Even if we assume that the end goal is for the entire population to die out besides the wealthy, and then they get to live in automated luxury— someone still has to do all the menial tasks, at least to maintain all the machines.

@PirateImpact Then the wealthy will impose their final view of the world: one where there's either no lower class, or an army of impoverished zombies that they just ignore. They keep all the automation, live in luxury, and enjoy themselves while the rest of the world suffers. Or just doesn't exist anymore. They might get inbred and go extinct themselves but hey! At least profits are up! Basically the plot of Elysium.
