There are serious flaws with the Stanford prison experiments methodology. The roles were not adopted naturally, Zimbardo did a lot to plant the ideas of "abusive guard" and "victimized prisoner" into their heads. A group of unpublished recordings taken during the experiment were found and posted by an online news outlet, basically proving that the test subjects were coached into giving the results that Zimbardo wanted. Several members of the experiment did interviews and confirmed this.
