Apparently Captain Kirk is narrating this story.

There are interesting papers specifically about the rapid rise in East Asia. Within the last 40 years nearsightedness has gone up to 80-90%. Initially people thought that it was just because of reading too much (or rather, keeping your face buried in something where your eyes never look far off into the distance). But more recent studies suggest that even children who read alot or use their phones can avoid myopia if they do it outside. Sunlight prompts Vitamin D production, and this makes our eyes grow radially. Without Vitamin D, out eyes only grow axially, meaning they get longer but not wider. So it is thought that studying next to a lightbox (or simply outside) can avoid most of the issues associated with nearsightedness.

If the shapes can see anything, then would it really be 2-dimensional? The view requires height to distinguish anything other than cardinal directions.

Easy for America to say. Its entire history is marred in blood and the repression of others' freedoms to bolster its own (that is, the Puritan colonists and their descendants). Any country would develop to US-level prosperity if granted the blessings of geography that it enjoys. Surrounded by two oceans. An ally to the north, a weak adversary to the south. Thousands of easily navigable lakes. Enormous wealth of natural resources. I'd hardly consider its success (and to some extent freedom) a product of the supposed ingenuity of its people. Lots of it was just circumstance. Although you don't seem to put much value in human intention either, since you think the end result is all that matters. Which, frankly, despite all of what I just said, is unsettling coming from you- presumably an American.

Heather Spoonheim Although you have eluded my main point, I more than happy to explain what I meant. You may not support abandonment of monogamy, but it's extremely unlikely that ordinary people will stay within their current marital relationships if left without a binding contract/covenant. I don't think you can somehow show me that the absence of a ceremonial commitment to one on will encourage people to stay monogamous. If you do in fact support monogamy but not marriage, you'll have to come up with a way to keep people from breaking that bond without their own commitment (you'll probably stay with someone if you're willing to spend thousands of dollars dressing them up to go to church for one day). If you can't enforce monogamy (this is my main point), people are bound to take more partners for themselves, have kids with these multiple partners, and slowly overpopulate the world: not a good thing. As for polygamy's status, I'll let you see that for yourself: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Legal_status_of_polygamy Sorry I made this so long, there was a lot to say!

In our current world where overpopulation is a huge issue, you're suggesting an abandonment of monogamy? What would you want to replace it with? If it's promiscuity, you've essentially doomed us all to sucking Earth's resources dry. Marriage might not be as socially necessary, but make no mistake, it is still extremely practical, and should be used until we can afford to make "groundbreaking" social changes.

Wait, if the galaxies are rushing away from us, (Earth) doesn't that mean that we are a center point? Or, if we aren't a center point, what is? Because, if two galaxies are rushing away from each other; the universe is expanding, what are they rushing from; what is the universe expanding from? (What location)

Not to me, no. Sorry. If things are infinite, why can they be held in something that's not? It's like blowing air into a bicycle tire- it's going to eventually pop.

I agree with your argument- to some degree. Yes, I know that this type of evolution exists, like I said before, it's micro- evolution, which are adaptions made by animals in order to survive. However, I don't know of any recorded event of an animal slowly changing species, and whatever change has been happening recently has probably been the same for thousands of years. As for Noah's Ark, Noah let animals free AFTER the flood. (It's scary that a child would have to reproduce with its mother.)
1
Well, aside from the fact that it's never been done before (to the best of my knowledge) let's consider this. Have naturally genetic mutations ever occurred before? Many have been induced through chemicals, but I'm not an expert, so I'.m not defending myself on that position. Even if these mutations occur, they could have just as easily happened with a religious standpoint, because Noah took along two of each animal along with him, and that scenario could explain why there is this massive

I think you're talking about the word infinity. If something has no stopping and/or starting point, then why ask how big it is? Then again, the title of the video may be the only way we can interpret the question, but couldn't it be worded differently?
1
How can there be an infinite number of universes in an infinite space? After all, if the universe is constantly expanding, wouldn't it be considered infinite? If it is, how can there be a finite number of infinite things, in an infinite space? There would have to be a finite number of something for those finite things to exist in an infinite space, I believe. ...Have I blown your mind yet? =)
1
You can't really ask, "How big is infinity" because the word big implies size, and something that never ends doesn't really have a size.

Define what you mean by 'smarter.'

Macro evolution and micro evolution are existent, but this doesn't explain the evolution that atheists tend to believe in. The gene pool can be changed, but no new information can ever be added, simply because the only information you can receive is from your ancestors, who made you. Even with mutations, the animal's species has never changed, only a part of it's body. Don't get me wrong (although I'm a Christian) and I believe in evolution, this video has a lot of holes in its theories.
1
Very well, let that be true. Now, do you believe that anyone is going to get rid of the two possibly broadest (regarding definitions) English words spoken?
1
diversity of species that we have today. Of course, this is just my belief, and you don't have to regard me seriously. But, at least consider the alternatives to your non-belief; I have. (I was an atheist for ten years, so I've taken both perspectives.)
1
I don't think you can get rid of the words good and bad. They aren't just words, they're concepts of sides in a war, of thoughts that one has, they're what define the world and what give us motivation to live. "We" are good, while _____ is "bad." I will stop the badness, and I will be even better than I was before. Get the picture, people?
1
You know, you just sinned...7 times, you didn't love your neighbor (others) like yourself. I'm a Christian, and even I say you went too far. Even though atheism has a lot of holes in it, and the belief (or non-belief) is based off of assumptions and guesses, you don't have to concern yourself with it. You'll only get yourself into bad situations, like this one. If you want to preach to people, do it in a way that doesn't make you look like a jerk.

How many public schools teach the Bible's word? None. How many teach the Big Bang theory? All. Maybe not directly, but they do. If my 7th grade teacher telling me that if the moon hadn't crashed into the earth billions of years ago, there would be different life forms isn't atheistic, I don't know what is. My PRESCHOOL TEACHER was describing archaeopteryx to me and how the universe created itself. And you think we're suppressing atheism? Take a look at yourself.
1
It may be a different set of information, but nothing makes it any different from the first. It can only combine with others to form mixtures. And, commonly accepted? Dude, there are 2 BILLION people who gave their lives to Christ, and it's not going to stop! How many full blown atheists are there? Please, inform me.
1
So you're telling him that's he's wrong about his own experiences?
1
Are you kidding? I hope you didn't take that literally. When I say "gave their lives to Christ," it's an allegory. It means that people focus their entire lives on Jesus, not giving in to what the world's morale and ideas tell them. And, like I said before. Evolution does exist. However, I don't think it's possible for a species to have evolved into another species, too many adaptations and coincidences needed for it to happen. If you say otherwise, give me an example that has been proven.
1
Then what is outside of that finite space?
