It's probably stunted development. These people grew up in an industry where youth is prized above all else (beauty products, plastic surgery etc) and their fans— the demographic that adores them— are often younger. They never had real normal life experiences because everything is always opportunity for content and they have to spend most of their time focusing on content instead of gaining life experience. I don't think 100% of the people who abuse others are pdfs, but that kind of environment and culture can skew someone's view of what's acceptable so far out that its indistinguishable from the real thing.

Anything is better than the 1990s

No, this is just a newer version of the PDF glasses look. Those glasses were SUPER popular in the 70s and 80s and that's also when Stranger Danger became a thing. So now people just assume they all look like that, when it was just a popular style for the time. In fact remember that broccoli hair started as a tiktok trend lol
14
They're mad that they aren't the only ones with access to our data lol
10
@croec Well that seems kind of scummy... "Let us keep benefiting from the great research you do to patch our domestic products, while also depriving you of income in our home market" lol
9
YouTube kids is just as bad though
8
@zombiedude347 ...Even from the website of the company that provided them the OS in the first place. The cognitive dissonance/paranoia is strong
7
@ducki Nope. Terrorist is defined by the actions they do, doesn't matter how "official" they are. The Dahiya Doctrine, officially adopted by the Israeli armed forces, includes attacking civilians to make their lives worse and pressure them to overthrow the government. That's the TEXTBOOK definition of terrorism. Sorry.

@NoOne-sk2ve I'm not asking what "should" be used, I'm just curious what Brits used before, since the acronym was taken up by something else.
5
@ray_n_carnation Facebook is (allegedly) the biggest one. But they went after only PH for a few dozen cases..
4
@crushycrawfishy1765 Ffs dude, are you really justifying companies just closing off their IP after they can't make money off of it, or the company folds? "Our CEO can no longer enjoy vacations from your money, so let's erase this game from existence" lol
4
Seems more likely, the outcome of this is that pro-Palestinian sentiment is seen as crazy. And US publishers have an interest in taking it down anyway.
4
@reecechadwick8504 On the highway at night? It's (allegedly;) a lot of fun to do that. But in a pedestrian area? It's just reckless. With his amount of money, he should have just rented access to a section of the road for a bit.
4
@Bluis5445 Lol no
3
@theatricult "A koalas" lol The photo is from a super low angle so they'd have to be crouched with the camera ready before the agents even walked past. It is framed a little too perfectly just admit it
3
@richardmullens4707 So what polite acronym do you use there? Or do you just come out and say 'noncery'
3
@yungspaghetti Didn't she already get into some sh for that? I have heard deep rumors about Pitbull but don't know anything specific

@lawrencein Old guard getting stubborn, a tale as old as time. Countless endangered languages and crafts were lost forever, because of old people's refusal to speak it with another speaker (whether trauma-related, or just personal beef). It often happens when the new people try to modernize and upgrade whatever was there, and the old legacy guy thinks it's being deleted or they're being usurped. At least in this case the site is still up. I'd download it now if I were you, getting Pokemon Uranium was much harder for me after Nintendo shut them down.
2
@maxvegas5423 Nah. The Mayans were right, it all ended in 2014. Reality is now just the fever dream of a higher being that's come down with the flu
2
@Livewyr7 You don't even have a federal privacy law like GDPR, stop deluding yourself. It's honestly impressive how the US has convinced it's own people that they're free, while oppressing them. Stalin would he jealous
2
To be fair, having a smaller percentage of the global market share is a pretty good way to never get viruses (since no one cares to do it, it's not profitable).
2
"The plebians won fair and square?! That's... THAT'S NOT FAIR WAHHHH, let's send our goons in after them and make sure they know never to challenge our racket again!!"

Therapist: Don't worry, Uncanny Mutahar can't hurt you Uncanny Mutahar:

@blondbraid7986 Not since Ukraine they're not. Better to just have multiple countries host copies of the content.

@Unapologeticweeb I think he's capable of giving decent left wing commentary. He either rips a video by playing it while eating/chsir, or he pauses the video every 5 seconds and gives his thoughts. Two extremes, no in between. Which isn't perfect because the viewer still sees the entire video, but it shows he's at least able to make it interesting if he actually cared enough

Telegram is definitely next. DJI is already facing heavy restrictions. Basically if you're Russian or Chinese and you sell a product that doesn't go through a middleman (so that Amazon can profit), good luck
1
AUTTPBot-g7c How ironic, a comment warning against bots and scams overrun with bots and scams. YouTube just isn't what it was in 2008. I miss it so much..
1
@Basmoyy I know but my thought is the same. Even a bot-detecting bot wouldn't be needed in early YouTube. The worst problem then was reply girls.
1
That thumbnail is meme material. One level worse than Mr. Incredible
1
@havocmg Should be based on neurology- ±1-2 years the age of the other person, until 25, then they're fair game.
1
@MissusAnon Sadly it has happened to me once. Almost threw up when seeing it. If you scroll through pr0n long enough and the feed isn't curated it will show up. Be careful
1
Norton? You poor soul.
1
@kirkbupkis Communist Party is cooked too
1
@Kaiserboo1871 Why? They're the ones who can actually affect you, I'd rather have China be watching me. They aren't gonna reach me lol
1
@dfgbdegbergb7415 Because for "some reason" they refuse to set aside their own energy production for the domestic market and sell it all. So your energy prices are very heavily influenced by the global market despite technically having enough to weather those fluctuations.
1
@voidmayonnaise Fake or not, he's right. Russians are famous for not respecting copyright and being savvy at hosting torrenting sites. They literally created SciHub. There's no practical reason for "the Russians" to take this down,
1
@databend6609 1) We all watched Live leak as kids 2) Interviews with people assigned to that task force
1
I don't think that's the issue— the US has no barriers selling to other countries even when they know that the NSA is using it to spy on them. It's just petty political stuff, nothing more
1
@richardmullens4707 Huh, interesting.
1
@demirramon Hey that's a dope rhyme
1
@0uttaS1TE Actually, that's what Russia is trying to prevent. It got so bad then precisely because we trusted the West enough to direct our economic policy. If Ukraine becomes part of NATO de facto or even in all but name, the US will have enough implicit threat to influence with Russia on pretty much everything. Look up Jeffrey Sachs, one of the four Treasury Secretary economists hired by Yeltsin. He appears to have major regrets over how Washington handled Russia's transition to capitalism.
1
@WindReiter10 Wait really? I just remember =3 being an Internet news channel, like Philip de Franco but even earlier. And obviously his later YFM music videos were original content
