Even looking at the invasion itself-- how many European and US outlets were saying that it was unlikely to happen? Are we ignoring those incredible "powers of perception"? Or are we now resorting to cherry-picking whichever outlets happen to get it right, and proclaim that it was inevitable all along? Regarding the losses-- I, unlike some people, admit that they are all failures. The Russian forces have been hollowed out by corruption for decades. (Nevermind the fact that the neoliberal oligarchs were created by Western policy advisors, I suspect on purpose). The truth is that Russia's armed forces are a shell of what they were-- yet in spite of that, Ukraine has lost its Russian-majority areas. You only need to look at 2014 to see what Ukraine was like without the US carrying it entire way. This isn't Ukraine's achievement, but the West's military testing ground.

Especially if the person (like Jordan) isn't in his right mind, and is already subdued, there's zero reason to go in after the fact and kill. More to your reply though: the fact that you even thought to use that as a genuine example really shows how deluded Americans are. Your hypothetical scenario happens like that nowhere else on earth. Certainly nowhere else that's as developed as the US. More importantly, the punishment even in your example still doesn't fit the crime. The mentality that doing something in breach of an order automatically means you can assume they're trying to kill you and you have a right to attempt to kill them preemptively— is not the mentality of a normal person. It's something you'd expect from a veteran with PTSD. Not someone with nerves of steel. Most police around the world simply aren't operating in that mindset, so my response to what you just said is; you're wrong. That's not a justification to kill. Dozens of police do just fine without those extreme RoE. Switzerland is armed to the teeth and their police aren't jumpy and weak-willed like yours are.

And even if use a hypothetical and say he wasn't, the second Jordan was immobilized should have been the second the Marine let go of his windpipe. I'll ask again: why did the Marine feel the need to continuously choke him?

I literally described what he did. He threatened to kill passengers. That still does not make him deserving of death. You're still holding contradicting beliefs: "I don't believe Jordan should have died" and "if he didn't wanna die he shouldn't have picked that fight" If you don't think he should have died then you shouldn't justify his death. You said in the second quote that there was a rational, understandable reason for him to have been killed. He picked the fight, so dying is a natural outcome of that. Your words. If you don't think he should have died, then the course of events that led to his death is unjustifiable. It simply shouldn't have happened, the Marine shouldn't have done the very thing you're justifying him doing (because that's what led to his death, which you said shouldn't have happened at all). So why are you justifying it??

Nobody's guaranteeing you sex if you do these things; this isn't programming where you have conditionals, or mechanics where if you fix this, this, and that, the car starts. The whole idea of the "game" is that you can win, or lose, but you still have to play by the rules. But I agree, if they don't play, they lose. And it's not wrong to say that looks play a big role in attractiveness, but that wears off in lieu of new information- charm, wit, voice, confidence (depending on setting) intelligence are also indicators of how fuckable you are. Incels love to pretend to be scientific but stop short of whatever makes them acknowledge their own faults. It's really kind of sad because the longer they prolong their seclusion, the harder the hit will be if/when they finally break out.

Assassinating a problematic but ambitious leader (Gaddafi) seeking to throw off French neocolonial rule isn't helping. Neither is assassinating Lumumba for trying to free the Congo from Belgian colonial rule. The US spent 30 years after the fall of the USSR treating Africa like a slave farm, good for the occasional poverty porn commercial. Now China starts building roads and buildings and they freak out. Really shows how they saw their position in the world.

  40. Not really. I hate to be a doomer, but it will require all governments convene and share technology, immediately. That just won't happen until the politicians can no physically longer escape the heat. And by then it will be too late. Without the entire world going nuclear and either becoming vegan or rapidly developing lab grown meat, the vast majority of emissions will continue as usual. I'd say may God help us, but I think he's shaking his head with pity right now.
