@trailersfromhell2539 Fighting for people's rights and getting them signed into law is concrete. "For a lot of people" is vague, and makes me think you're defending their feelings and opinions. What, concretely, did the Queen give to her subjects? Any new rights that she directly fought for? A new healthcare plan?

@trailersfromhell2539 That's stupid, too. People simping over someone they don't know- you can like their legacy, but that doesn't mean you have to mourn their loss-- you never knew them as a person, as a friend, etc. Was for example Heath Ledger's death sad? Very. I felt sympathy for his struggles, and appreciated his life's work. But would I expect an entire country to stand still, for someone who had not even earned their position? Someone who had done nothing for me? Someone who died at a very advanced age? What are people sad about, she was a head of state that lived to 96, lived a pampered life, and largely took from taxpayers to fund that lifestyle. Where is the comparison with a celebrity? Being famous is a shit reason to feel "connected" to someone lmao

@michaeltnk1135 Yeah but Rosa fought for rights that people alive in 2005 got to enjoy. There was a direct relationship-- even if impersonal, between her struggles and the rights that black people have as a result The Queen didn't provide much if anything to Britons, besides existing as a symbol of state power
