The thing is, your personal experience isn't at all mutually exclusive to the statistics. Women are generally more cautious than men when driving-- I'd be willing to bet that their accidents are caused by making mistakes out of error. Whereas with guys, their mistakes are probably out of recklessness. So the mere fact that you handed off a drive to a guy who-- in that situation-- probably isn't gonna show off, is affirming the fact that you're less likely to do something stupid while driving. A guy would just say 'I can handle it lol' and risk it.
