@kody649 This comes down to a difference in philosophy, literally. They seem to think that humans are perfectly rational agents created by God, capable of defying the laws of cause and effect, that every decision in based on cold facts alone and completely rational. This same thinking underpins the original Anglo view of markets. The Constitution was written in a culture where evolution was still in its infancy as a subject, so the cultural basis for American governance had those ideas instilled into them by the institutions they are brought up in--- ---those laws are a reflection of the predominant ideas of the time, which influences further generations, who go on to influence the institutions. Human decisions cannot defy statistics, they are the statistics. Ex: you dragging yourself out of poverty does not prove that anyone can do it, it proves that human behavior as a whole is working as usual Do not hold your breath though, conservative-minded Americans will never accept this
