  1.  @Riskofdisconnect  Not even that's true--- it is the first successful one, but the efforts to develop and scale the technology are multi-national-- the first space tourist paid an American company, which used (and paid for) a Soviet Soyuz rocket. That being said, SpaceX is important to the US gov't (to become 'independent') so it automatically will succeed in some form. Could be though that China offers a truly 'middle-class' spaceflight option and wipes SpaceX from significance, who knows
