Though, the Russian government (should it completely isolate itself after taking Novorissiya) may not care about ideological consistency, and choose to support Serbia anyway-- though I don't see this as likely. In all likelihood, what you described will happen. It also highlights why Russia is adamant about stopping NATO expansion, and even further EU expansion: options. When every single neighbor is in a mutually exclusive trade deal, your own economy suffers
