  1.  Stephen Jenkins  That's not quite true. The U.S. is stable, but that does not make it entirely Democratic. Even represetatively. Bear in mind that Hilary Clinton won the popular vote, but because Donald Trump curried favor with the Electors (also bearing in mind that only half of them are Constitutionally bound to vote for whomever the people do, and that more populous states tend to be more liberal), he won instead.
