@9kaart You seem to assume that nothing at all has changed in Russia's military since 2008, you haven't even thought about why Russia lost so many in such little time. The lack organization just after the collapse of the USSR is long gone, and though Ukraine has improved alot, so has Russia. With much, much more money.

@skiddzjust1389 Then I'm sure Ukraine wouldn't mind uniting with its rightful territory to the East, no?

@ziadyaacoub2532 Surely Russia isn't expected to just roll over and allow American troops kilometers away from its border? What good would that do? You are explaining what Ukraine wants, but for Ukraine to get that membership, you are basically asking Russia to accept U.S troops metres away from Rostov. Who would ever do that? You don't like when Russia projects power close to you, so why do you think it feels any differently about NATO projecting power right on its borders?

@ziadyaacoub2532 I think the deal that Russia proposed in 2015 would be best. Something akin to Finland's current status: Ukraine, while not part of NATO (or if it is a part of NATO, no NATO troops allowed to hold wargames on its territory), is able to buy weapons from both sides (Russia, vs Europe+US), and a trilateral economic agreement where tighter border controls between Russia & Ukraine (because if Ukraine enters a free trade deal with EU, Ukraine cannot also be in a deal with Russia. Higher-quality EU goods would flood the Russian market and destroy Russian-made products from developing.) In addition, both Donbass and Crimea are given back to Ukraine, but the Sevastopol base is leased indefinitely, and both Crimeans and residents of Lugansk and Donestk can travel visa-free between Ukraine and Russia. Any thoughts?

@ЛевЛевый-ж2щ You haven't really proven why his points are wrong, though. You can all it "propaganda" all you want, but until you can explain which parts of it are false and why, you have argument. Ironically, calling something propaganda without any factual evidence is itself a form of propaganda.

@jamier65551 Oh, it does. I did not expect the corruption and poor logistics to be this severe. I assumed the military was protected by that kind of behavior. That being said, quality of life for the average Russian (prior to invasion) was better in material terms than the CCCP, but public services were still behind.
