Yup and both are narcissists. Same dynamic with the parents too- one parent is a narcissist (the controlling one/ the one calling the college to get into), while the other parent is a doormat. My parents are this way too. T say that this messes a kid up is the understatement of the year. I have borderline personality disorder and my sister got the narc gene. And it’s something that MUTATES the Brian so you can’t just go to therapy and get rid of it. She’s F’d for LIFE. Difference is, I can admit I have a problem and seek help. Narcs can’t and won’t. What do her mom and his dad have in common? They were both overstepping their boundaries and going to great lengths to exert control over their college experience. Who is obsessed with control? Narcissists. Who marries narcissists? Almost always passive/meek people. Was changers mom and her dad passive and meek? YES. Finally, who k!lls family Vs misc people? Narcissists do. Whereas psych0paths do it for fun and thus plan it out and find someone random that can’t be tied back to them. Narcs k!LL because their ego got bruised or because it helps them in some way. What bruises the ego more than anything else when you’re a narcissist? Shame. Being exposed for being a loser, a bad person, an id!ot, etc (whatever the narcissist is insecure about). Both Chandler and Sydney’s parents pushed education in them and both felt great pressure to be the best. And not being the best woukd therefore cause great SHAME. Because when a narcissist isn’t winning, they aren’t valued (because that’s how their parents treated them). You’re right, these are IDENTICAL cases, just flip all the genders. They’re narcs and one of their parents is too, while the other was the permissive parent that let them get away with everything.
